Christians all over the world are well aware of the special bond that exist between Israel and Christianity in whole. Every christian is profoundly attached to this land that saw the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the numerous promises God professed over the Jews and the archeological treasures it stores of the biblical era. Therefore, it comes to no surprise that the political atmosphere is also in the radar of christians’ interest world wide.
For more than 12 years, Israel was under the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu, an israeli politician who served as the ninth prime minister of Israel. It is worth noting that Benjamin Netanyahu is a friend of Christians and said it best himself when he said:” When I say we have no greater friends than Christian supporters of Israel, I know you’ve always stood with us. You stand with us because you stand with yourselves because we represent that common heritage of freedom that goes back thousands of years.” This very words he uttered were in front of a christian evangelical audience in washington, to which you can read the full article here.
On June 13th 2021, Netanyahu leading streak was cut short by the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, after the former prime minister failed to form a new government as imposed by the executive law. The new government, which will be chaperoned by nationalist Naftali Bennett, has very little in common except the desire to unseat Netanyahu according to the News Media Reuters.
As of now, very little is known of the feelings harbored by the new prime minister Naftali Bennett towards Christians but it is safe to say christians world wide hope for the best between the Holy land of Israel and Christians. Many would agree that the main focus of Christians is not about who is in charge or not of Israeli’s governement but how much we pray for Israel, for its peace and stability. After all, the bible says,”…Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, and whoever curses Israel will be cursed“(Numbers 24:9).
